Who We Are

We are a patient-led, scientific research consortium, bringing together doctors and scientists from some of the world's leading medical research centers to engage in collaborative investigation of LBSL and the DARS2 gene mutation.

Mission

Our mission is to facilitate the open exchange of ideas, data and tools in order to foster collaboration and ultimately accelerate understanding of LBSL and the underlying mechanisms involved in the DARS2 gene mutation. We believe great minds think together.

About LBSL

Leukoencephalopathy with Brainstem and Spinal Cord Involvement and Lactate Elevation (commonly referred to as LBSL) is a progressive disorder affecting the brain and spinal cord. Leukoencephalopathy refers to abnormalities in the white matter of the brain, which is tissue containing nerve cell fibers that that transmit nerve impulses.
